The council has endorsed the revised Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and thereby given the green light to a long row of very important issues for the regional cooperation work.
For instant it has agreed to the objective “Save the Sea”, supporting the various efforts to obtain good environmental status of and biodiversity in the sea. Agreed to the objective “Connecting the Region”, which has to do with deeper regional integration and to combat cross-border crime such as trafficking.
The objective “Increase Prosperity” that will deepen and fulfill the Single Market and include climate change adaption and the social dimension is also agreed upon. At the same time the Council welcomes the proposal of promoting awareness of the Strategy among the wider public by establishing an interactive web based tool for sharing experiences and good practices.
