Friday May 6th the Marshal of the Westpomeranian Region of Poland, Mr. Olgierd Geblewicz and the Director of International Cooperation Mrs Julita Milosz visited Baltic Development Forum (BDF). The Marshal was welcomed by Mr. Jørgen T.P. Christenen, Vice-director of BDF and three Polish BDF’s interns: Katarzyna Dygul, Agnieszka Niedzielska and Maciej Pilarczyk.
The aim of this meeting was to discuss cooperation between BDF and the Westpomeranian Chairmanship of Baltic Sea States Sub-regional Co-operation (BSSSC), which runs in parallel with the Poland’s EU Presidency as of July 1st 2011. Over the years, BSSSC has been a close cooperation partner of BDF.
BSSSC’s Annual Conference takes place 5-7 October 2011 Szczecin – few days before BDFs Summit/Annual Forum of the EU Strategy 24-26 October in Gdansk. A main issue of the dialogue was how the two events could be mutually supportive. The Chairman of BSSSC has also invited Mr. Uffe Ellemann-Jensen to participate in the Annual Conference. Similarly BDF invited the Marshall to take an active part in the BDF Summit/Annual Forum in Gdansk. BDF is ready to work for a better coordination and cooperation of the two events.
The Marshal and the Mayor of Szczecin together with the Polish Ambassador in Denmark, Rafal Wisniewski inaugurated the Days of Zachodniopomorskie region May 5th at the Polish Embassy and followed that with investor’s seminar the day after. The promotion days of the Zachodniopomorskie Region in Denmark aimed at acknowledging that it is the fifth largest region in Poland and is therefore amongst other reasons recommended as an ideal place for investment.
