Ministerial Conference on the EU Baltic Sea Strategy

17 September 2009
Swedish Minister for EU Affairs Cecilia Malmström is hosting a ministerial conference on the EU Baltic Sea Strategy in Stockholm on 17–18 September.

EU affairs ministers from all the EU’s Member States have been invited together with representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank.

”The EU Baltic Sea Strategy is a pilot project for a new cooperation model in the EU. It involves using EU funds in a better way, taking into account the specific regional conditions prevailing in different parts of the EU. It is particularly pleasing that the Danube region wishes to begin cooperating in a similar way”, says Cecilia Malmström.

Cecilia Malmström will participate in the upcoming BDF Summit in Stockholm in a discussion on the Baltic Sea Strategy and its potential role as a model with pilot power on Monday 5 October at 12.00.
