Uffe Ellemann-Jensen calls for stronger political will to enhance regional energy cooperation

10 July 2008
- We need to define the regional agenda if the Baltic Sea Region is to play a key role in the global search for sustainable energy solutions, argues Baltic Development Forum Chairman Uffe Ellemann-Jensen in the new issue of BDF Magazine, released on Friday.

- The key solution is stronger political will. But the green climate revolution cannot be made by politicians alone; we need a cross-sectoral partnership on this.

BDF Magazine presents a thematic, regional approach to the energy and climate challenges the world – including the Baltic Sea Region – is facing today. Of immediate interest is the planning of the Nord Stream gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea, which has caused political controversy among the countries in the Region. BDF Magazine asked two renowned political scientists to outline the pros and cons of Nord Stream, and they present their finding in the Magazine. The magazine also introduces some creative innovations in the field of energy and climate.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister of Denmark, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, gives an exclusive interview on his outlook on the Baltic Sea Region's future energy market and position in the global economy.
