In the margins of the 16th Baltic Development Forum Summit and the 5th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region the BSR TransGovernance will get attention among the stakeholders who will join Turku Baltic Sea Days’ events in the beginning of June. BSR TransGovernance project, co-funded by the BSR Programme 2007-2013 and led by the Swedish region of Blekinge, will invite the participants for an open discussion to get insights and good ideas for further elaboration of the multi-level governance concept that implies that all public and private stakeholders relevant for the specific planning and implementation process are invited to a dialogue and have influence on decision-making. The means to make this cooperation method effective in the specific environment of the Baltic Sea Region is the core activity area of the BSR TransGovernance project.
In the multi-level transport governance session, the BSR TransGovernance project intends to present ideas how to optimise performance of public and private actors at the showcased reference scales. These are: MACRO (transport development frameworks for the Baltic Sea Region); MESO (cross-border transport integration areas), CORRIDOR (international multimodal transport corridors) and MICRO (intermodal terminal sites).
The project highlights will be benchmarked with the featured peer strategic processes aiming to:
- Set up implementation structures for TEN-T core network corridors;
- Develop a transport and logistics greening toolbox for the TEN-T core network;
- Manage international transport corridors through an EGTC (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation);
- Organise stakeholders around the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link.
Through an interactive debate with the audience the project aims to validate some proposed multi-level governance measures and solutions. Thereby, roles, responsibilities and assignments of the individual stakeholders are better comprehended and realised in the strategic transport work, and – in particular – in the implementation process of the TEN-T core network corridors.
The multi-level transport governance session will be held on 4 June at 15.30 – 17.30 at Sokos Hotel Hamburger Börs, Kauppiaskatu 6, meeting room Regina 1. If you are planning to participate at the session, please register your profile by using the following link http://bit.ly/1hIKgaS
